The League was established in 1971 as the Runcorn & District Junior League. With the formation of the new borough of Halton in 1974, covering Runcorn & Widnes, the league changed its name to reflect this and became the Halton & District Junior Football League.
In 1996 the league was one of a few to take part in the FA trials of the new short sided format 'Mini Soccer'.
Tony Miller, League Chairman at the time, secured some pitches, which he initially marked out himself!
The Mini Soccer trial was a success and short sided football spread across the country!
In 2002 we took the leap online with our website. In 2004 we started using the FA's Full-Time online system to show our league tables, fixtures and results. Jump forward to 2009 and the league became only the 2nd league in Cheshire and one of the first 50 junior leagues in the country to to be awarded the FA Charter Standard League Award.
In 2016 we were one of the first leagues in the country to trial the new online player registration from the FA.
